Dear Candidate:
The Viscusi Group is the leading search practice in the interior products industry established in 1985. We have an established client base that includes some of the most prestigious names in contract and residential manufacturers, leading textile companies, and floor and wall covering manufacturers.
Before opening The Viscusi Group, I started my own career at a Herman Miller and Knoll dealer and then switched sides, learning the ropes of the manufacturing arena at Haworth. I have actually held the positions that many of you will be applying for. I am a headhunter, but I am also a peer.
All of the recruiters and researchers here are former industry executives.
There are two kinds of headhunters that manufacturers and dealers hire
when they have exhausted all means of making the hire on their own:
Contingency Search: This type of search consultant must fill the position before he is paid a fee.
Retained Search Practice: This type of search consultant is retained as a recruiter to identify and appraise executives well-qualified to fill specific management positions. An initial down payment is followed by progressive payments, and the full fee may be paid even before the actual position is filled.
You should always ask a recruiter who requests to submit you for a position if they are a “contingency” recruiter or a “retainer based search practice.”
The Viscusi Group is a 100% retainer based search practice. Every assignment we have has been paid for by our client (the manufacturer) in advance in full. The reason for this is that our clients (the major manufacturers) want more than a “warm body.” They want our expertise and opinion to find the right person, the perfect fit. We also help our client negotiate compensation, and deal with counter offers.
Because we are paid in advance, we have no motivation to twist someone’s arm into taking a job the way a contingency agency does.
Know in advance, that 90% of the people we place are already employed. Our clients do not see much value in paying for our services for someone who is unemployed.
Your employment status will not deter a company’s interest in hiring you. They just want you to contact them directly to avoiding paying our fee.
All the major manufacturers list jobs openings on their websites. No company wants to pay a fee if they don’t have to, so always contact the company you want to work for directly when you are unemployed.
90% of the assignments we get are confidential, and we are replacing someone who does not know they are about to lose their job.
Our clients also ask us to steal people directly from their competitors – at every level – CEOs to salespeople to showroom managers.
That is why manufacturers hire us.
I hope this explanation helps.
As you can see, we are not an “employment agency,” and we can’t help you find a job unless you fit into the profile of an assignment we are currently working on. Most of our assignments are listed in the job list below.
If you are unemployed, take my advice and contact the manufacturers and dealers directly.
We always welcome your updated resume for our database even if you do not see a match on our “Job Listings” page.
You can be sure WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN WE SEE A MATCH. But we need to know you are out there.
When you finish viewing the job listings, simply click on “Submit Your Resume.” It is that simple.
I look forward to meeting you personally one day and hope that we have a job opportunity that will match your experience, skills, and talent.
